2020 Legislative Session Has Ended…
The 2020 legislative sessions in Maryland and Virginia have both ended. We are still waiting for the Governors to sign much of the legislation passed, but we had successful legislative sessions in both states. In Maryland, they passed a $2.2 billion school construction bill.
In Virginia, they passed all four pieces of legislation pushed for by the Building Trades. These bills creating a state prevailing wage with a local option, repealing a ban on project labor agreements with a local option, allowing localities to set responsible bidder language in construction procurement which would end the horrible low bid process currently used, and private right of action along with general contractor liability on projects over a specific total cost.
